Reading Glory in Upstate Pennsylvania

Experience Reading passenger and freight steam operations in Upstate Pennsylvania with this outstanding all-color footage filmed by the late Clarence Weaver in the late 1940's and early 1950's. You will see G-3 Pacific and Atlantic powered passenger trains in the Susquehanna River valley, and follow the King Coal passenger train as it leaves Shamokin and climbs the mountain grade to Locust Summit. See steam powered fast freights and mallet powered coal drags working on the mountain grades. You will visit Reading's SF Tower in Sunbury to watch a parade of steam and early diesel powered passenger and freight trains pass by. In 1956, the power-short Pennsylvania Railroad leased a fleet of Reading T-1's. You will see these engines working PRR freights on the Susquehanna Division between Northumberland and Enola. The original Footage was shot on 16 MM color film. Authentic Reading engine and whistle sounds, narration and music have been added to bring you 45 minutes of the finest vintage Reading action ever shot.
